“- Earth Day –
Today is Earth Day and many people are thinking about what they can do to help the planet.
I chose to go into politics after studying mechanical engineering and environmental science. I made this choice after realizing that the technology, science, and public policies to protect the climate and environment exist, but what we lack is the political will to make the right choices.
A big part of my day job is recruiting people to run for office. It’s something I love to do. It allows me to be with people as they take their first steps into politics by identifying their priorities, writing their first bios, and supporting hundreds of people running for office for the first time. We plan campaigns together, discuss important issues, develop policies together and then defend them on the street, in debates and in the media.
This year, a provincial election is scheduled for early October, and there is an opportunity to run as a Green Party candidate. While many environmentalists do not consider themselves politicians, running for office on a pro-environment and pro-social justice platform is a good way to contribute to the political debate, propose positive solutions and reinvigorate our democracy.
The Green Party of Quebec is in recruitment mode! You could be part of our team! For more information: https://pvq.qc.ca/devenir-candidat-2/
