Jannie Pellerin entered politics at the age of 29 to advocate for major environmental change, to advance social justice and to inject positive energy into Quebec’s democracy. Having grown up in Rouyn-Noranda and Île-Perrot, Jannie has been living in the city of Montreal since 2016. She is studying for a Master’s degree in Environmental Management at the University of Sherbrooke (Longueuil campus) and has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from HEC Montréal.

Jannie’s experience in business management has opened her eyes to the need for economic reform to address the environmental crisis. Lawlessness, greenwashing and the pressure to grow are just a few examples of how private companies are contributing to the environmental problems we face. Jannie then decided to pursue her master’s degree in environment in order to participate in the economic and societal change necessary to fight climate change. For Ms. Pellerin, the implementation of an environmental police force as well as much stricter and more robust environmental laws and regulations are essential elements for the future of the planet, biodiversity and ecosystems. We must not depend on the goodwill of corporations on such an important issue, but use our voice and our elected politicians as levers for change.

As a feminist, Jannie Pellerin hopes to contribute to the fight for gender equality, acceptance of sexual diversity, social justice and an inclusive Quebec through her political involvement. She chose the Green Party of Quebec because of our values, our eco-socialist platform and the fact that for us, the environment will always be the first priority. On a local level, Jannie is proposing more green spaces, more active transportation, more local purchasing, free public transportation and the restoration and protection of natural environments, with a strong focus on water and wetlands. At a time when the people of Verdun and Nuns’ Island are facing accelerated gentrification and an unprecedented housing crisis, Ms. Pellerin wants to give back to the people and especially to the youth the possibility of owning their homes; a basic need that has suddenly become a dream due to the rapid and totally uncontrolled rise in prices.

Jannie Pellerin wants to change Quebec and hopes she can count on your help to do so. In her spare time, she loves to play sports, including running, cheerleading, hiking, gardening, painting and volunteering for animal causes. For Jannie, every vote cast on behalf of the Green Party of Quebec demonstrates that our ideas resonate with the public, helps us gain a foothold in the public debate, and contributes to the funding of the Green Party through the per-vote grant. For all these reasons (and more), Jannie would be honoured to have your support in the 2022 Quebec general election!
