Geremy Lachaine entered politics at the age of 25 for the environment and social justice. He is a student at the University of Sherbrooke in teaching English as a second language. He grew up in the Laurentides and completed his CEGEP in Gaspésie in a multidisciplinary program. He chose to get involved with the Green Party of Quebec because of our eco-socialist platform which aims to change the paradigm of society.
Geremy often says that humanity should not aim for eternal economic growth because the costs to the environment are simply not sustainable. We need to find other goals for humanity other than capitalism, such as a more equitable distribution of wealth and indicators of success based on the well-being of people, our collective health and our efforts to protect the environment. Let’s change our priorities to act for people rather than corporations. Let’s give people back the opportunity to own their homes and be debt free.
He chose the Green Party of Quebec to bring about a change in society to treat the environment better, to make a difference and to bring about more equity in government policies. He supports the feminist values of the Green Party and wants to ban street harassment.
On the local level, Mr. Lachaine wants to introduce free public transportation, reduce the number of cars on the road, and connect the city of Sherbrooke to a high-speed train system.
For Geremy Lachaine, every vote cast on behalf of the Green Party of Quebec demonstrates that our ideas resonate with the public, help us gain traction in the public debate, and contribute to the party’s funding through the per-vote subsidy. For all these reasons (and more) Geremy would be honoured to have your support in the 2022 Quebec general election.
