This afternoon I participated in the event ” Welcoming Committee for the Meeting of Environment Ministers”.
While we were outside the building chanting slogans and listening to the speeches of the big environmental groups, the environment ministers walked into the building and criticized the imposition of a mini carbon tax that the federal government may impose on the provinces within the next two years.
Let us be clear, this mini carbon tax will do absolutely nothing to curb climate change. We desperately need strong leadership on this issue in Canada, and with this announcement, and with the approval of the mega hydro fracturing project in BC last week, Justin Trudeau has made it clear that the environmental movement needs to become even more vocal and more militant if we are going to succeed in blocking oil projects and protecting our environment.
