I am in complete disagreement with Thomas Mulcair’s assertion that the niqab is to blame for the failure of the NDP to resonate with Québec voters in the most recent federal election.

The fact of the matter is, Justin Trudeau’s liberals had the exact same position as Mulcair and won 40 of the 78 seats in Québec.

The problem that the NDP had in the most recent election was abandoning their socialist roots, turning their backs on the environmental movement and presenting a centrist platform that did not even come close to the vision Jack Layton presented in the 2011 election.

If #NDP members want their party to remain relevant in Canadian politics they should go back to the drawing board and work towards repairing some of the damage that has been done to their party by advocating in favour of centrist policies.
