Right now at the climate summit in Paris, the new federal minister of the environment representing Canadians is vocally opposed to any kind of legally binding climate treaty. She has no figures to offer on our domestic reduction targets, and is unwilling to restrict the growth of the Alberta tar sands.

Justin Trudeau has already promised to go forward with multiple pipeline projects. Now his government is using a page out of the Harper playbook by systematically refusing to go beyond the targets set by the U.S.

According to Premier Couillard, “Quebec has largely done its part” to reduce GHGs.

In other words, no matter what happens in Paris, the Government of Quebec will refuse to increase its efforts.

Selon le premier ministre Couillard, « Le Québec a largement fait sa part » pour réduire les GES. C'est à dire, peu importe ce qui arrivera à Paris, le Gouvernement du Québec refusera d'augmenter ses efforts.
